Future Vikings: Previewing the Packers Cuts

Death, taxes and the Vikings signing the Packers castoffs.

This past Tuesday, the Packers made their first round of cuts and this Saturday will have to make 22 more to get down the 53 man limit (technically only 20, because of suspensions of Letroy Guion and Datone Jones… good job guys) . This means that plenty of those who get cut will be heading west to the land of 10,000 lakes and 0 championships. Some of those who are cut will be lucky enough to be part of the Packers practice squad, which is better than making the active roster for many teams. Others however will have to look for employment elsewhere.

Who’s Headed for Minnesota

Demetri Goodson

Everyone knows the Vikings secondary is a joke. Goodson will easily start for them and be their best corner. In fact he should help them improve so much that the Packers will only score 30 points per game instead of 40.

Jared Abbrederis

No doubt about this one. Former Badger? Check. Former Packer? Check. Wide receiver? Check. He will probably start opposite other former Packers castoff Charles Johnson.

John Crockett

The Vikings have a running back with a propensity for not making it through an entire season, whether it be from injury or beating a child. It will be nice for Crockett as he is from North Dakota and it will be a quick drive home right after the Vikings season ends on January 3.

Khyri Thorton

This is the perfect example of the Vikings front office letting Ted Thompson draft for them. Unfortunatley for Thorton, there is just too much talent on the Packers d line. He will be more comfortable where expectations aren’t so high.

Andy Malumba

They have to figure out something to try to get some pressure on Aaron Rodgers so that he doesn’t shred them for the 8th consecutive year. Malumba is a solid player and will be a nice pickup for them.

Bruce Gaston

Ted Thomas once signed a former Vikings player (Letroy Guion) and the Vikings will not that go without repercussions.  They will sign Gaston to fill that hole.

Joe Thomas

The idiots running the front office probably think this is Browns tackle Joe Thomas and will jump on the opportunity. It’s okay though because even though this Joe Thomas is a linebacker, he is still better than that turnstyle Matt Kalil.

Matt Blanchard

Even though he was cut earlier in the week, they will still sign him very soon. He will easily be the best quarterback on their roster and best they’ve had since the last former Packers player led their team.
